🛠️ Does Your Boiler Timeclock Need Replacing?
If your Baxi, Potterton, or Main boiler is no longer turning on or off as expected, a faulty timeclock may be the culprit. Many North Devon homeowners experience this issue, especially during colder months.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to replace your boiler timeclock yourself—and when it’s best to call in a professional.
Whether you're in Barnstaple, South Molton, Winkleigh, or the surrounding areas, this DIY tutorial from Jad Mottram Plumbing & Heating has got you covered.
✅ Tools & Parts You'll Need
✔️ Replacement Timeclock (Part No. 247206 for Baxi, Potterton, and Main)
✔️ Phillips-head screwdriver
✔️ Insulated gloves
✔️ Your smartphone (for reference photos)
✔️ Access to your boiler's front panel
Step 1: Purchase a High-Quality Replacement Timeclock
Look for the correct part number for your boiler model:
Baxi – Part No. 247206
Potterton – Part No. 247206
Main – Part No. 247206
We recommend buying from a reputable supplier online or from a local North Devon heating merchant.
Step 2: Isolate the Electrical Supply to the Boiler
⚠️ SAFETY FIRST:
Turn off the power supply to the boiler at the fused spur. Confirm with a voltage tester if you're unsure.

Step 3: Remove Front Panel Screws
Use your screwdriver to remove both front screws from the boiler casing. Set them aside safely.

Step 5: Disconnect the Old Timeclock
Take a clear photo of the wiring.
Remove the wires from the old timer and reconnect them to the new timer in the exact same sequence.

Step 8: Restore Power & Test
Turn the power back on and test your heating system.
Ensure the timer clicks and responds properly during the on/off cycle.
🧠 Pro Tip from North Devon’s Heating Engineers:
If you're unsure at any stage, or if the timeclock still doesn't function correctly, there may be a deeper issue with your boiler’s control board. Don’t take risks—call a qualified engineer.
